Dr Amoafi Kwapong

 

Amoafi Kwapong is a Ghanaian storyteller and educationalist with many years experience. She specialises in language and culture in education and supports bilingual and multilingual learning. She brings her own scholarship through her contribution to story and music anthologies and her PhD on the use of story and Twi in learning and teaching in the Ghanaian Primary schools. She is also an Associate Lecturer of Early Childhood Studies at the Open University in London.

 

Amoafi’s work involves call-and-response games, rhymes and songs to help young children develop the Twi language as well as their confidence and self esteem. She delivers fascinating insights into cultural differences through stimulating children’s creative imagination.

 

Amoafi is currently studying four families as a researcher in the ESRC project, Becoming Literate in Faith Settings (BeLiFS), directed by Eve Gregory at Goldsmiths, University of London.
